My full name is Natalie Vy Van Tran. According to my mom, she named me after actress Natalie Woods cause she thought the actress was quite pretty in that classy way. My American name, Natalie, comes from the root Natalia or Talia in Latin and it means Christmas child. Although I was born here, my family originated from Vietnam, therefore I also have a vietnamese middle name which could be pronounced "vee" like the letter "V" for Vy and "vun" for Van. In vietnamese my middle name means little cloud.
A song that has a personal meaning for me is one titled Natalie by the group Florez. In my senior year of high school I remember my friends singing that song to me occassionally and me disbelieving them at first when they had said my name was actually in the song. For me, my name does not just identify me in comparison to other people, but it also holds a lot of meaning, memories, and emotion.
